No More External Links on eBay “About Me” Page

Posted by – June 23, 2008

eBay sure is making lots of changes this year! Now for the latest… Starting sometime in July, eBay will require that all links outside of eBay
be removed from your eBay “About Me” page.

The About Me page has been the only place eBay allows links to external websites, and is a great way to market personal and commercial websites.

Who knows what eBay is thinking, but the changes will be made in July 2008.

Judge Judy Busts eBay Scammers! One of my Favorite Episodes

Posted by – June 23, 2008

I’m a big fan of Judge Judy.  As an eBay seller, I found this episode very interesting.  Apparently, an eBay scammer posted a listing for two cell phones.  What the buyer actually got were two “pictures” of cell phones and not the phones themselves….

PayPal May put 21 Day Payment Holds on Payments for Some eBay Items

Posted by – May 9, 2008

PayPal in conjunction with eBay may put 21 day payment holds on payments for some eBay items. This can affect the cash flow of those who use PayPal to pay their drop shippers.

If you have at least 20 detailed Seller Ratings (DSR’s) with a score of 4.5 or higher for each rating, you will be less likely to have a payment hold put on the funds used to pay for an item.

More information about this can be found in the PayPal information link below:

Selling online on your own website or at sites such as eBay.com and Amazon.com can be very difficult if you can’t find the right wholesale or dropshipping company.  Below are some of  the dropshippers to which I have access.

Clicking on a link will open a new window –You will not lose this page and have to click your back button to return to this list.

In some cases you will need to be an actual business to purchase from these companies.

Got a New Computer for Christmas? Update your Virus Protection Now!

Posted by – April 24, 2008

Did you treat yourself to a new computer over the Christmas holidays, or did  a loved one give it to you as a gift?  If so you most likely got a Windows based machine with Windows Vista or XP as an operating system. These operatings systems are prone to getting viruses if your anti-spyware and anti-virus software is not installed or updated.  Ususally with a new machine, there is a 90 day trial that comes for free.  After 90 days, the anti-virus and spyware software stop getting updates from their servers, and your systems are then at risk for all kinds of nasty problems.

If your installed anti-virus and spyware programs have been sending you alerts that they are out of date, please do yourself a favor and update them!  This will prevent your computer from becoming compromised, and put you less at risk of having your personal data be hacked, etc.

Most of my time as a computer consultant is spent repairing or reinstalling computer systems that have been hacked as a result of anti-virus software that is not up to date.  The most common complaint I hear is, “I just got this computer three or four months ago, and now it is so slow”.  Please don’t let this happen to you…
